A Sydney derby, a top-of-the-table clash, and a vital two points heading into the business end of the season.

The Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers don't need any more motivation to be pumped up for their WBBL clash at the SCG on Saturday. But they've got some - bragging rights.

The Thunder and Sixers are both in good form, with the Thunder leading the competition and the Sixers sitting in second. In the six matches the teams have played in the WBBL, they are split with three wins apiece.

Sixers captain Ellyse Perry is excited going into Saturday night's match and says that it's vital because of the history and rivalry between the two teams.

"It's one of our biggest matches for the year," Perry said. "We know them very well, play with them through the year, we've got a great history, we share the Cricket NSW precinct, and we've played some really big matches against one another. It's always got a really big feel to it.

"Each season we share the spoils in the matches so we won the first one this year and I think given it's our home game on the SCG we'd like to play some good cricket and be successful again."

Sydney Thunder captain Alex Blackwell is also looking forward to the clash, and is looking to get one up on the Sixers after a loss earlier in the season. In that match Blackwell hit a fine half-century to put Thunder in the box seat, before Ashleigh Gardner and Alyssa Healy took to the Thunder bowlers and hauled in the total with eight balls to spare.

"Bragging rights are on the cards and we've got the first battle wounds inflicted on us in this competition, so looking forward to another great game here," Blackwell said.
