WA man critical after ute crashes into power pole

A 55-year-old WA man is fighting for his life in hospital after his ute veered off the road and wrapped around a power pole on Wednesday night.

A police spokeswoman said the incident occurred at 9.50pm on the corner of Tonkin Highway and Thomas Road in Darling Downs.

"The man was driving a Toyota Hilux Utility in Darling Downs," she said.

"As he turned left from Tonkin Highway onto Thomas Road, he veered off the road and hit a power pole.

The man, from Furnissdale, was flown to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
