Trump's never-ending handshake with Emmanuel Macron0:31
US PRESIDENT Donald Trump is known for having a — shall we say — interesting approach to shaking hands with world leaders.
During a whirlwind trip to Paris, where he was a special guest for the city’s annual Bastille Day celebrations, Mr Trump engaged French President Emmanuel Macron in an excruciating, 30-second-long handshake that’s got the whole world talking.
What could have been a simple shake took a weird turn when the two men continued to hold hands while strolling down the Champs-Élysées.
About five seconds in, Mr Trump appeared to yank Mr Macron closer — a classic Trump move. And Mr Macron appears to lose his balance for a second.
Then the presidential handshake morphs into something of a bro shake, as the two men turn to each other and shake their joined fists from side to side.
Then the French First Lady, Brigitte Macron, gets brought into what becomes a bizarre, three-way handshake, while Melania Trump looks on.
Mr Macron pats Mr Trump’s arm and Mr Trump tugs him closer for a second time and eventually, the two world leaders finally end what many of us feared would be a never-ending embrace.
