Two truck drivers are "lucky to be alive" following a fiery crash in the Pilbara on Monday night.
North West Coastal Highway was closed in both directions for nearly a full day after a truck carrying LNG gas collided with another truck at around 8.30pm.
While both drivers walked away with minor injuries, Pilbara Police posted a photo of the wreckage to social media and said the pair were "lucky to be alive".
Following the crash itself, WA Police said the situation became more dangerous when it was discovered the LNG tanker had ruptured in the collision and had begun leaking gas.
A large bushfire burning nearby made the situation more dangerous, and Main Roads WA was forced to close North West Coast Highway and set up 2.6 kilometre exclusion zone to protect the public.
Traffic was detained at Nanutarra Road House, and significant delays occurred as a result of the crash.
North West Coastal Highway was reopened at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon.
