Murrumbateman show jumper Stephen Dingwall is determined to deny rival Tom McDermott a potential $50,000 pay day when they clash in Canberra this weekend.

McDermott won the NSW Country Championships in Wagga last week and is gunning for the NSW Showjumping Championships title in the capital, which will earn him a crack at the triple crown in December.

Victory in Canberra and then at the Willinga Park grand final will see McDermott receive a $50,000 triple crown bonus, but Dingwall wants to spoil the party and earn his own cheque.

Dingwall won the grand prix in Wagga but McDermott finished the overall winner. However, if Dingwall can finish with the most points across the three events he'll net $5000.

This is the second time Canberra have hosted the championships following a successful 2017 edition and a 30 per cent prizemoney spike has brought riders from all over Australia.
