Man injured in attempted robbery in Belconnen

A man was injured after an attempted aggravated robbery in Belconnen on Friday.

Police said the victim was walking in the park between Letters Street and Kingston Street in Evatt, when a man approached him and demanded he hand over his belongings.

It's understood the man attacked him with a knife when he refused, before fleeing on foot towards Kingston Street.

Police were told a vehicle's brake lights were seen on Kingston Street as the offender fled.

The victim was transported to Calvary Hospital and was treated for a forearm injury.

The attacker was described as approximately 180cm tall, with an Australian accent and wearing dark clothing.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
