A man has been charged after allegedly snatching a newborn baby from a hospital in Sydney's west.
The 28-year-old man allegedly left Blacktown Hospital on Friday with the baby and two women, aged 27 and 47.
While leaving the hospital, the car with the baby inside struck a pedestrian on Main Street.
A 40-year-old male was knocked to the ground and suffered head injuries but the car did not stop, prompting an immediate call to police.
The 28-year-old man presented himself at Kempsey Hospital on Saturday, where he was assessed.
The baby was found at a Blacktown medical centre and is now in state care.
He was refused bail and will appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Sunday.
