"OH no." With two words, Shane Watson's worst nightmare came true at the Gabba less than two minutes before lunch.
The injury-prone batsman was caught at slip off the bowling of Stuart Broad. In doing so, he forced his captain Michael Clarke to come out and face three balls before lunch - a less than ideal situation for any batsman. Clarke survived.
Watto made a meagre 22 runs off 71 balls. He spent 99 minutes in the middle before succumbing to Broad. Ian Bell took a sharp, simple catch. Watson resigned himself to the situation, saying "oh, no" immediately after the ball caught the edge of his bat.
Watson's characteristic brain snap will do nothing for his already shaky reputation with the broader Australian public.
