A man has been charged after a house fire at Tallai on Queensland's Gold Coast hinterland last night.
Peter McMillan from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service says a lack of water was a problem and a special rural unit was used to help fight the blaze.
"Fortunately they carry nearly two-and-a-half times the amount of water that a rural appliance has and we were able to utilise both their manpower to assist in the mop-up and to use their water supplies to replenish our own," he said.
Police say they found a man near the scene who allegedly had stolen property from the house.
A 22-year-old man from Toowoomba on the state's Darling Downs has been charged with entering premises to commit an indictable offence.
