Giants assistant coach Tania Obst will take over the struggling Adelaide Thunderbirds next season, replacing Dan Ryan after he was told last month that his contract would not be renewed beyond 2018.
Obst, who has been an assistant to Giants head coach Julie Fitzgerald in the club's first two seasons, has signed a three-year contract and will be tasked with rebuilding the fallen Thunderbirds who have not won a game in 2018.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to have Tania as part of the Giants Netball family for two seasons,” Fitzgerald said.
"Tania has been a key part of our journey from new team in the league to the strong and united side we are now. Her knowledge of the game, coaching expertise and strategic wisdom have been an asset."
This will be Obst's third stint at Adelaide. She was head coach in 2007 for the final year of the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, and assistant between 2012 and 2014.
She will remain a part of the Giants' championship push until the end of the season, which continues in Brisbane on Sunday against the Queensland Firebirds.
