The Australian under-20s gave Ryan Lonergan headaches in more ways than one last year.

The promising ACT Brumbies prospect had his World Cup hopes shattered when he was concussed twice in two months, forcing him to watch from the couch as the junior Wallabies played on the international stage.

Canberra players Isaiah Latu, Len Ikitau, Ryan Lonergan, Tom Ross and Mack Hansen will be playing in the Australian under-20s team at the junior World Cup.

But the 20-year-old scrumhalf will get a shot at redemption in France as part of a five-man Canberra contingent in the national under-20s squad.

"I had headaches for a little bit after the concussions ... and then it niggled a bit watching from home and not being able to do anything," Lonergan grinned.

"To be honest, I was pretty jealous. I think it has [made me hungrier], I was pretty confident last year and to miss out like that, it hurts. It gives me more drive to go hard and make the most of it this year."
