BREAKING: Seven people have been gunned down at a Dallas Cowboys watching party in the US.
Police rushed to the Plano, Texas, home after reports of multiple shots fired. An officer shot and killed the gunman at the scene, bringing the total number of dead to eight.
The shooting occurred on Sunday night local time in the city about 30 kilometres northeast of Dallas.
The victims were all reportedly adults. Neighbours told local media the shooting occurred during a Dallas Cowboys watch party.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the shooting was the result of an arugument that began inside the home.
“I’ve been here all my life,” police spokesman David Tilley told theDallas Morning News. “I’ve never heard of anything like this.”
He said police were initially responding to calls about shots been fired — but when they went inside the home an officer discovered a number of bodies.
“The first arriving officer on scene made entry inside the house, confronted the suspect, ultimately shooting and killing him,” Mr Tilley told local television station WFAA.
Two others have been injured but their conditions weren’t immediately known.
The relationship between the victims and their killer was unclear. Police are trying to establish a motive, reported USA Today.
One neighbour, Victor García, said he heard about six gunshots, one after another. Less than 10 minutes later, he said, he heard police sirens and another burst of gunshots.
