Police in WA's Kimberley have seized a big haul of alcohol from patrons trying to get into the Grand Final of the West Kimberley Football league - and event that's been marred by brawls and violence in past seasons.

To stop any disruption the event is now alcohol free, with police restricting the consumption of booze at the event in Broome and in the surrounding streets.

The police haul included bottles of French champagne, cans of beer, bottles of wine and cider and blocks of bourbon and cokes.

Saturday's match between the Derby Tigers and the Broome Bulls follows on from last week's Grand Final of the East Kimberley Football Leage where the Ord River Magpies defeated the Kundat Djaru Cats by 24 points.
