Kathy Griffin 'no longer sorry' over severed Trump head stunt

Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin has backtracked on her apology to Donald Trump telling Sunrise she is no long sorry for posing with a bloody mask resembling the president.

The stunt backfired spectacularly and as a result, the 56-year-old's career came crashing down in May amid a flurry of death threats.

Despite admitting that she went “way too far”, Griffin was placed under investigation by the Secret Service and slammed on Twitter by the President.

The Emmy and Grammy-winning comedian posted a video saying it was "too disturbing" and wasn't funny.

"I sincerely apologise…I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people,” she said.

In a heated conversation with Sunrise co-host Sam Armytage, Griffin said she is no longer sorry, accusing President Trump, the first lady and his grown children of trying to “ruin her life”.

“I am no longer story, the whole outrage was bs, it was blown out of proportion and I lost everybody,” she told Sunrise.

“Chelsea Clinton was tweeting against me, Debra Messing from Will and Grace tweeting against me.

"I lost everybody, so I have been through the mill and I didn't just lose one night on CNN, my tour was cancelled within 24 hours because every theatre got death threats.

Asked by Armytage if she didn’t think her stunt “ was over the line”, Griffin bit back saying the picture did not compare to the “actual atrocities that the President of the United States is committing”.

Not backing down, she is now embracing the stunt as part of her new "Laugh Your Head Off" tour, kicking off in Sydney on October 21.
