“You could blame the conditions but at the end of the day everyone has the same conditions and I just couldn’t ski as well as I’d like to think I could.”

On a day under bright blue skies and with the temperature edging up to eight degrees Celsius, 20 of the 133 competitors who set off down the super-G course failed to finish.

For sitting skier Tori Pendergast, she missed a gate midway through her run and didn’t record a finishing time.

“I tried to go for it as much as I could, especially with that course as there’s a lot of swing to it,” said the 27-year-old.

“I came over the roll and then just hit a bump, which shot my ski out in a bit of different direction than I wanted to go.
