The advisory group has launched a bid team membership with supporters receiving a cap, priority access to membership in the inaugural Big Bash season and access to exclusive events and updates, at $50 for adults and $25 for kids.

McConnell has indicated community support of elite cricket is absolutely vital in Canberra's bid to win a BBL licence, with 2500 tickets already snapped up for the women's Ashes games.

Australia must win one of the three Twenty20 matches remaining in the multi-format series to retain the urn they won back from England two years ago following a draw in a rare Test match.

Canberra will get its second taste of BBL action this summer when the Sydney Thunder host the Melbourne Renegades in a BBL-WBBL double header on January 24.

November 17: First Twenty20 - Australia v England at North Sydney Oval, 7.10pm.
