Diamonds and Giants star calls time on career

Veteran Giants shooter Susan Pettitt will retire from netball at the end of the season, becoming the third Diamonds player this week to draw the curtain on their international careers.

But unlike Queensland's Laura Geitz and Collingwood's Madi Robinson who plan to continue on in Super Netball, Pettitt has also closed the door on a distinguished club career that has spanned more than 200 games at national league level.

The 34-year-old spent 11 seasons at the NSW Swifts before being coaxed across to the Giants by coach Julie Fitzgerald on formation of the new club.

She played a key role in leading the side to the inaugural Super Netball grand final last season against Sunshine Coast Lightning and has been instrumental in helping the team to seven wins this season.

Pettitt began the year at goal attack but has been moved into the shooter's role in recent weeks in a switch with English superstar Jo Harten.
