Canberra teenager Adam Thorp has the chance to etch his name alongside some of the greatest golfing names of all time on Saturday.
Thorp is second heading into the fourth and final day of the junior world championships at the famous Torrey Pines golf course in California.
The schoolboy is trying to follow in the footsteps of past winners Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and runner-up Phil Mickelson.
Thorp shot a sizzling four-under 68 in his opening round, before shooting 71 on day two and then put himself right back in contention with a 70 on Friday.
He's hit 15 birdies over the three days to sit five-under and one shot behind Texan leader Nathan Petronzio.
Meanwhile, Gungahlin product Josh Armstrong fired a three-under 68 in his opening round at the 2018 Players Amateur in South Carolina.
