Canberra Indigenous soccer team star at first tournament

A Canberra women's side played in the National Indigenous Football Championships for the first time last week and they finished on the podium in Nowra.

One Mob opened their account with 6-0 victory and went on to win five of their seven games but were knocked out in the semis by champions Illawarra and finished tied for third.

"It wasn’t easy football, you need to be quick, fast and skilled and you also need to have the mental strength to overcome physical pain and keep going for your team," team manager Tamika Townsend said.
