Brawl breaks out during wedding at Albert Palais Events at Leichhardt

A BRAWL involving as many as 30 people erupted at a wedding reception in Sydney’s Inner West last night, resulting in one guest being hospitalised and another being arrested.

At about 10pm on Saturday, police were called to Catherine St, Leichhardt, after reports of a brawl, involving a large group of males, taking place at the Albert Palais Events function centre.

By the time police arrived, however, the brawl had subsided but wedding guests had spilt onto the streets.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene after behaving aggressively towards police, and was taken to Newtown Police station where he was issued with a Criminal Infringement Notice for offensive language before being released, pending further inquiries.

A 43-year-old man suffered a broken nose during the brawl and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

A police investigation is underway and no one else was seriously injured.
