Tennis Australia also announced that the new players' pod, with its world class training, treatment and dining facilities, will be available.

Entry level prices for Rod Laver Arena have been reduced to $62, and the price of a ground pass was frozen at $49 for 2019.

The Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events, John Eren, said the government had invested $972 million in the Melbourne Park precinct but did so "because it gives so much back". He said the Australian Open brought an economic impact of $293.2 million in Victoria, with 49 percent of visitors coming from beyond Melbourne and 12 percent from overseas.

The 2019 Open will run from January 14-27 and is the first year of Channel Nine's broadcast of the event.
