Rising star Ashleigh Barty set up an all-Australian Sydney international semi-final with Daria Gavrilova after crushing Czech Barbora Strycova on Thursday.

Barty triumphed 6-3, 6-2 against a visibly frustrated Strycova who possessed no answers to the metronomic 21-year-old, the result ensuring an Australian will play in the women's final for the first time since 2005 when Alicia Molik beat Sam Stosur.

Her next assignment is on Friday against Gavrilova, who had Thursday off following Garbine Muguruza's withdrawal from the tournament with a thigh injury.

Gavrilova earned the walkover after comfortably beating Stosur in the second round on Wednesday night, barely hours after reigning Wimbledon champion Muguruza had withdrawn.
