Andrew Bogut's much-anticipated NBL debut ended in defeat, as a fourth-quarter Sydney Kings collapse helped the Adelaide 36ers come away with a 94-83 win in front of 10761 fans at Qudos Bank Arena.
The Kings held a six-point lead with as many minutes remaining, before a late flurry from the 36ers saw them emerge victorious.
The vast majority of the pre-game packages were about Bogut, the former NBA star with the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers – but the big man could only manage two field goals and six points in a frustrating afternoon for Andrew Gaze's men.
Right after the tip-off, Bogut got the ball down low and spun away from his defender, as we had seen so many times in the NBA, and had a great look for the game's first shot – but the crowd groaned as it clanked off the iron and came back out. His second attempt moments later, off an offensive rebound, had the same outcome.
