Almost half the Australian indoor cricket team is from the ACT

The standout performance earned Winkler a phone call from the national selectors and the 27-year-old said he couldn't be more excited.

"It was probably the best I’ve played at national champs and to top it off with another gold was terrific," Winkler said.

"It was the closest tournament I've been involved in, there were four teams that could have won it and we only won the major semi by four runs.

"Every young sportsman dreams of representing their country and I'm certainly no different. Just over the moon and in a bit of shock at what I've achieved.

"It's really good to have the other four ACT boys with me, Matty, Timmy, Benji and Luke, who all won the World Cup last year.
