A 53-year-old man from Adelaide has died from meningococcal disease, South Australian health authorities have confirmed.
The man had suffered from the serogroup B strain of the disease, SA Health said in a statement this afternoon.
Multiple people were in contact with the man prior to his death on Saturday, and four people have been told to take antibiotics as a precaution.
There have been 18 cases of meningococcal disease reported in the state this year, compared to the 13 cases reported at the same time in 2016.
